Podcast Episode #0075
VegettoEX @ 8:15 pm EDT -- Episode #0075 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we did another round of e-mail answering! Definitely a great batch of questions from everyone. If you ever have questions or comments for the show, we certainly. welcome them and will do our best to answer everything to the best of our ability with the minimal amount of effort and research necessary to make it sound like we know what we're talking about and still provide a valuable resource :P. Definitely check it out. |

Podcast Episode #0074
VegettoEX @ 12:20 pm EDT -- Episode #0074 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we took a look at the new CD from last December, DragonBall Z Best Remix 2006 1/2 Special. Certainly an interesting release, it's not quite a "remix" CD in terms of what the word traditionally means... it's more of a "re-mix" CD. Listen in for more details. We checked in with Julian at Anime Boston, Jeff stopped by to read some e-mails, and don't forget that there's one more week for the DBZ Movie 8 DVD contest! Definitely check it out. |

FUNimation Spanish DVD News + DB:Source
VegettoEX @ 11:56 pm EDT -- Thanks to Lavender Saiyan on the forum for keeping up on this. If you check out Z-Store, you'll see that FUNimation now actually has not only their own listings for the first two Spanish DVD volumes (which we reported about back on April 6th and in an even earlier podcast episode)... but now has cover art for the two discs. And guess what?
NEW SPANISH |
ULTIMATE UNCUT |
|
|
|
|
Notice something interesting, here? Yeah. Exactly. We still have absolutely no official word from FUNimation, but it would appear they are going back and re-releasing the "Ultimate Uncut Edition" DVDs... from the beginning... as Spanish-only (this would be the same Mexican dub that the actual "Ultimate Uncut Edition" DVDs featured until their cancellation).
What we do know is that volume two is indeed supposed to be El Plan de Piccolo (not El Pan), and FUNimation has a price for the two discs around $9, themselves (Volume 1 / Volume 2). According to this thread over on the official FUNimation forum... they're the &%$#ing "remastered" footage with Spanish-only and English subtitles. Ugh. Apparently, they already started releasing these down in Mexico. As always, we will keep you up-to-date on anything else we are able to dig up.
We don't need to keep repeating it, but we will, anyway. We think this widescreen "remastered" nonsense is the worst product FUNimation has released in years. It was a crock of lies from the start, and puts fans in a disgusting position... we want to support the show, and we want to finally be able to legally complete our series in Japanese with Steve Simmons' subtitles, but god dammit... stop this nonsense.
Anyway, moving on...
Here at Daizenshuu EX, we really aren't into computer games of any variety, especially MMOs and FPSes. However, if you're into Half-Life 2, it would seem a mod for it entitled DB:Source has seen its initial release (Version 0.1), focusing on the Saiya-jin arc. None of the sections on the site seemed to work when I tried it, but whatever... check it out if you're interested, before they inevitably receive the proverbial C&D from FUNimation and Atari.
Stay tuned for Podcast Episode #0074 this coming Sunday! |

DB R2 DVDs Selling Well + Reminders
VegettoEX @ 7:08 pm EDT -- According to ANN & Oricon (Hey, look at us! Citing sources! The amazement!), the three DragonBall DVDs that came out this month are kicking ass and taking names over in Japan, taking the numbers 2, 4, & 6 spots on the charts.
Also, a couple reminders if you haven't been up on the podcast episodes as-of-late...
The "DBZ AMV Guide" was updated on the "Other Favorites" page with one more video you should check out.
We're currently holding a contest to get a free DVD of DBZ Movie 8. All you have to do is... well... listen in and find out! Entries need to be in by Friday, April 27th at noon.
Speaking of podcasts, there are a couple links to some of our other favorite shows down on the right. Have fun! |

Podcast Episode #0073
VegettoEX @ 12:07 am EDT -- Episode #0073 of the podcast is available for download! That's right, two updates in a row... spanning two different days! Whoa! For the show this week, we took at look at the character of Tapion. Who is he, and why the Hell is he so popular for a dude that's only around for a single movie?! Is it the theme song? Is it the sword? Is it the shoes?! He's on fire...! In all seriousness, he's a pretty intriguing character that doesn't over-stay his welcome, and we certainly had a good conversation about him. Definitely check it out.
And make sure you read the update below this :P. |

"Nippon Ijin Taisho 2007" Video
VegettoEX @ 8:21 pm EDT -- Fans of Daizenshuu EX will know that we don't typically link to any video sites unless something of major importance pops up. Well, this is one of those times.
Taku128 brought this to our attention over on our forum. Entitled "DragonBall Original Anime Nippon Ijin Taisho 2007", the video is an all-new animated feature showcasing a tournament to decide the mightiest "great person" throughout all of Japan's history. The competitors include Benkei, Himiko, Prince Shotoku, and Amakusa Shiro. While fans and scholars of Japanese history and literature will probably get the biggest kick out of this, DBZ fans also have a lot to enjoy as none other than Son Goku provides a running commentary on the (over-the-top) fights with Masaharu Miyake, an announcer for Fuji TV. Of course, there's also the obligatory plug for the new R2 DragonBall DVDs that began their release this month. The animation is done in a very current, One Piece-esque style, and looks pretty spectacular.
Julian has provided a write-up with a little more depth over in the forum thread, so also be sure to check that out. Enjoy!
Podcast Episode #0072
VegettoEX @ 12:20 am EDT -- Episode #0072 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we were able to escape death and do the actual review & analysis of volume three of the DragonBall manga. It is certainly one of our favorite volumes from the entire series, so check out what we had to say about it. We also had some good discussions on a variety of other items, so be sure to check out the show notes for links to everything we mentioned. Definitely check it out. |

FUNimation "Spanish" DVDs Forthcoming?
VegettoEX @ 8:40 pm EDT -- WTF? How did we not post this earlier? I mean, crap... we talked about it on last week's podcast episode. Our bad!
Anyway, it turns out some listings for a couple VERY strange releases popped up on RightStuf in the last week or so.
First off, let's assume that's supposed to be "Plan" in that there second volume (he doesn't eat much bread). Second, let's note that FUNimation is certainly listed as the distributor for both volumes. Third, let's note that they are listed as 60 minutes a pop, which roughly comes to about three episodes each. Fourth, let's note that those titles in Spanish roughly correspond with the "Ultimate Uncut Edition" titles of the first two volumes, which also contain three episodes a pop. Fifth, let's certainly note that these titles are distinctly different from the Spanish remastered releases (with sub-titles such as "La Saga De Los Saiyans"; Spain uses "Saiyan" while Mexico uses "Saiyajin"). Sixth, note the amazing pre-order price that's under $10.
Seventh, let's note that we have absolutely ZERO information beyond this. |

AOL DBZ Game Retrospective Video
VegettoEX @ 5:42 pm EDT -- While not nearly as cool as Game Trailers' Zelda retrospective video series, it looks like AOL is getting their hands dirty with a little DBZ gaming retrospective, which was actually featured on their home page today.
It's a roughly three-minute video showcasing the series' games since around 1997 with Final Bout's release. If you ignore the fact that every... single... word... in the video is pronounced wrong (once you hear "nuhroodo", it's all downhill from there), it's actually somewhat entertaining. No AOL membership is necessary to view the video.
Credit for this find goes to, believe it or not, Meri's mom. |

Podcast Episode #0071
Not VegettoEX @ 3:40 pm EDT -- Episode #0071 of the podcast is available for download! Don't be fooled, though. This is the "mastermind", if you will. Let the very fact that I'm posting be proof that the entirety of Daizenshuu EX has been compromised, and the fate of each and every one of you lies in my own devious hands. You know too much. I'm coming for you. Listen for details, and be aware that it very well may be the last thing you ever hear... Definitely check it out.
Or else. |
