Podcast Episode #0070
VegettoEX @ 12:15 am EDT -- Episode #0070 of the podcast is available for download! This week, in response to... uhh... responses... that our video from Episode #0068 received, we took a look at fandom, itself. What about the Japanese version flat-out offends some of today's fans? What would drive these people to such anger? We examined their placement (or displacement, if you will) in relation to the show and other fans, which eventually leads us into FUNimation's treatment of the show (and their inability to decide whether or not today it should be viewed as "nostalgia" or "new hotness"). Definitely check it out. |

DragonBall Online Is Real! And It's Coming!
VegettoEX @ 6:48 am EDT -- The DragonBall Online MMORPG that we mentioned in a previous podcast episode indeed appears to be reality! While it is being developed in Korea, it is an officially-licensed game and will be coming to both Korea and Japan on the PC (no console port is mentioned). You can read all about it over on our forum post.
Here's a couple items Julian's pulled out of the pages:
- You are free to do whatever
- You can interact with other players
- You can add new characters / events as time goes on by downloading new maps, characters, etc.
- You can mix & match elements to create characters
- You can have your character start out as a child and grow up over time
- The game is set around 200 years after the end of DBZ (circa Age 1000)
- Beta version comes out in Korea in 2007, with the Japanese release (and final Korean release) coming in 2008
So there you have it. Check out the V-Jump pages in the forum thread for additional screen-shots and conversation! |

Podcast Episode #0069
VegettoEX @ 12:10 am EDT -- Episode #0069 of the podcast is available for download! Julian was in town this weekend, so we finally were able to have another local recording with us all together! Good times, good times... This week we discussed all of the various Japanese DragonBall tunes you can find on iTunes. From some special remixes to the "2005 version" CD singles, there's actually a decent collection of material up for grabs! We also went over a good bit of news, releases, and e-mails... which actually resulted in another mini-topic, where we discussed this apparently well-known parody clip involving something with a "nine" and a "thousand" in it... Definitely check it out. |

Harukanaru Gokû Densetsu Famitsu Scores
VegettoEX @ 5:25 pm EDT -- Hey look, an update in-between podcast episode! Our trusty friends over at The Magic Box have the latest scores from Famitsu in Japan, and it seems like the new DS game Harukanaru Gokû Densetsu has received scores of 6, 6, 7, 8... coming to a total of 27/40. Not too shabby. Nothing amazing, but not too shabby.
The game is due out this Wednesday (21 March 2007) in Japan, with the American version coming out later this spring.
And on the subject of podcasts, Julian's actually going to be here in person to record tonight :P. Look for it this weekend. |

Podcast Episode #0068... Plus Video Footage!
VegettoEX @ 8:20 pm EDT -- Episode #0068 of the podcast is available for download! And it has a special bonus video to go along with it! No, we haven't become a video podcast... we won't abandon you. Besides, us sitting around computers with mics isn't exactly enthralling to watch. No, no! What we've done is create a bonus video explanation (or primer, if you will) to go along with our main topic for the week!
This week, we discussed a scene from DBZ episode 101 in which Vegeta (who has just been brought back to life in a package deal via Earth's DragonBalls) flies over and sees a newly-SSJ Goku with his own eyes, right there on Namek. In case you don't know... this never happens in the manga. We discussed the ramifications of this scene (how Vegeta should be reacting, how it would change his outlook after coming back to Earth, etc.).
So to get you ready for the podcast, here's the video. I know, I know... we hate YouTube, too... but we're actually using YouTube for something it's meant for... which is monumental in and of itself!
In addition to the topic, we also went over some news, some releases, and hit up a few voice mails. Definitely check it out.
We'll be hitting hard with a whole bunch of genuine content updates in the near future. Be excited. |

Podcast Episode #0067
VegettoEX @ 3:30 pm EST -- Episode #0067 of the podcast is available for download! This week, Meri, Jeff, and I took a look at volume two of the manga to once again look from two perspectives... those that have read it before, and those being introduced to it for the first time. How did volume two stack up against volume one? Which staples of the series do we get introduced to so early on? We also answered a ton of e-mails and finally gave away that damn boxset that people seem to want... but... don't actually really want. Bwuahaha. Definitely check it out.
Oh yeah... I made a few spacing adjustments in the podcast feed, so if anything goes crazy (like your podcatcher re-downloading every single episode), please let us know!
I feel like I should apologize for not having any other general news of content in between podcast episodes, but the news hasn't been to exciting lately, and the content... well... actually, it's being worked on! Hopefully we'll have some neat additions for you all, soon. Look forward to it! |
