R2 DB Individual DVDs Announced
Julian @ 2:20 pm EST -- Mike and Meri are out of town for the weekend, but I've got some good news to share with you all. As you may already be aware, we're getting close to the last of the individual DVD releases of DBZ in Japan. So happily, if not surprisingly, there is more where that came from. Courtesy of forum-goer Payne222 in this thread, there is an ad in Weekly Jump #6-7 that announces the individual DVD relase of the original Dragon Ball anime, based on the Dragon Box release from 2004. The series will be released in 26 total volumes, averaging out to about six episodes per disc. As with the DBZ releases, each cover will have an all-new illustration (not by Toriyama, of course, but still new artwork), and each disc will retail for ¥3990 (about $34 US). It isn't clear from the ad how many discs we are to expect each month (it's 3 with DBZ), but the first volume(s) will be released on 4 April, which the ad terms "Four-Star Ball Day". Sounds good to me!
That's all the info we've got for now, but you know where to look for all the latest Dragon Ball info coming out of Japan, as we ring in the new year. Have a happy 2007, everyone! |

2006 Year-In-Review Podcast Episode — Next Week
VegettoEX @ 11:38 pm EST -- We're not skipping a week, so no worries! Meri and I are heading out-of-state for a wonderous New Year's celebration, so Episode #0058 of the podcast is going to be delayed by a couple days. We recorded tonight, and it was a doozy. Expect a full recap of all the big news from 2006, including an in-depth discussion of the current state-of-affairs with FUNimation's re-release/re-mastered DVDs. |

Podcast Episode #0057 + Shin Budokai...2?
VegettoEX @ 10:45 am EST -- Episode #0057 of the podcast is available for download! We had another laid-back episode this week, bringing back favorites Jeff Heller and Mr. Andrew Deluxe, himself. We dived into another episode of "Fandom Theatre" and shared some responses to e-mails, discussed the news, etc. Ol' Julian was stuck spending time with his girlfriend. Poor man. Definitely check it out.
And while this didn't make the news roll for the episode, it appears that Gamestop.com has a listing for a new PSP game entitled DragonBall Z: Shin Budokai Another Road. Is this a sequel to the previous Shin Budokai? Is Dimps actually still working on stuff? The date is set for 7 March 2007.
Long-time readers may remember that the original Shin Budokai was first discovered via a retailer listing online (Gamestop, no less) almost exactly a year ago, as opposed to an announcement via V-Jump, so this may indeed have some validity to it. We'll be sure to let you know anything else as we find out, ourselves. |

Extra Characters in JP Wii Sparking! NEO
VegettoEX @ 2:53 pm EST -- We're trying to cram in a couple regular updates in between podcasts, but man... it's tough this time of year! Those keeping a close eye on their internets may have seen some rumors leaking about extra characters showing up in the European Wii version of Sparking! NEO ("Budokai Tenkaichi 2"). As common sense would dictate, these extra items are actually spawned from the upcoming Japanese Wii release of the game, currently set for January 1st. So who do we have?
Yep, that's my main man Appule! Oh, and a random Freeza henchman. Who doesn't even have a real name. Awesome. Looks like Freeza's spaceship (as seen at the end of the Bardock TV special) is going to be an extra stage, as well.
The above image and information comes from the latest V-Jump, and it looks like the rest of their unlock-passwords are going to be released in the same Weekly Jump double-issue as the One Piece & DragonBall crossover, Cross Epoch. We'll let you know what else surfaces! |

Podcast Episode #0055
VegettoEX @ 9:34 pm EST -- Episode #0055 of the podcast is available for download! Sorry about the delay, but hey... we're only human. Well, maybe a little bit Artificial Human... OK, that's not true, either... just wishful thinking. Anyway, go for it! This week we brought on SkitzZero, who old-school fans will remember from the days of the website DBZ: Season 3. We talked a bit about running sites back in the day, and Skitz's advanced multimedia work that we're all still so fond of and impressed by. Be sure to check out the shownotes for a remastered version of the infamous fandub! Definitely check it out.
Also check out Skitz's auction... all ten daizenshuu and the two DBGT "Perfect File" books. You want them. You want them inside you. |

Podcast Episode #0054 + "Rumor Guide" Updates
VegettoEX @ 12:00 pm EST -- Episode #0054 of the podcast is available for download! Since we're usually busy working on the podcast and various other things this time of year, general content updates slow down a bit. What better way to force a content update on myself than to make it part of the podcast?! Genius! We have three new items for you over in the "Rumor Guide", all of which are discussed during the episode:
And, of course, we go over all the big news from the last week, and answer a good deal of e-mails. Definitely check it out. |
