25 December 2005

Daizenshuu EX — The Podcast: Episode #0006
VegettoEX @ 10:15 am EST -- Extra, extra! Learn all about it! VegettoEX, Julian, and Meri tell all their embarassing fandom stories! Learn the dirty secrets of the amazing trio! Podcast Episode #0006 is available!

Oh, and Merry X-mas to all, and to all a... err... Happy New Year!

22 December 2005

Chou (Super) DragonBall Z Japanese Arcade Release
VegettoEX @ 11:18 pm EST -- Across Japan today, Chou DragonBall Z (which should really be called Super DragonBall Z, if you pay attention to the furigana) hits arcades in a mad fury of Kamehameha and general punching attacks. Our Senior Arcade Correspondent is currently snowed-in... so... uhh... no pictures, just yet! Hopefully we'll get some, soon!

Yes, there will be a podcast this coming weekend...!

19 December 2005

"CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" Referenced in Diggnation
VegettoEX @ 8:00 pm EST -- Diggnation, the podcast that goes over some of the week's top stories on the social bookmarking & news website Digg.com, had its hosts Kevin & Alex mention DBZ's first opening theme, "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" in the latest episode (#25)!

The two spent a few days in Japan this past month, and while kickin' it with some karaoke, apparently sang the popular tune (much to the delight of some locals)! The bit is approximately 14:30 into the episode.

Speaking of podcasts, our own Episode #0005 is up, in case you missed it yesterday!

18 December 2005

DBZ Parody on Upcoming Robot Chicken Episode
VegettoEX @ 10:30 pm EST -- It looks like we're finally going to get our DBZ parody on Robot Chicken! In the commercials airing for this Thursday's special holiday episode (Thursday/Friday at midnight), we clearly see Goku in both his orange gi and blue gi. Awesome.

Daizenshuu EX — The Podcast: Episode #0005
VegettoEX @ 9:21 pm EST -- Woohoo! Sorry about the delay on this one. I like to have them up for midnight, but we recorded later than usual and I didn't feel like editing right away ^_~. This week we brought in Maggie from Lovely Cyborg to talk with us about
人造人間 (jinzôningen) and its various translations throughout the world. Android? Cyborg? Robot? Which term is appropriate for which character(s), and why?

We also put out the request this episode for you to send in your questions... as both e-mail AND MP3s! If you'd like to record yourself asking us a question, please feel free. E-mail them over to me (VegettoEX@aol.com), and make sure you begin your question by introducing yourself by name (either "real" or "online" name is fine) and where you're from.

So check out the episode! Remember, folks... Daizenshuu EX: Where you learn about zombie dogs.

Three Portable-System Games for North America
VegettoEX @ 9:51 pm EST -- Tons of people have been e-mailing the links to these, so here we go. We report 'em as we see 'em! Or... uhh... as we get 'em! North American releases of the following games have been found on Gamestop.com:

It's about time that Advance Adventure finally sees a North American release. I don't know exactly how many people are looking forward to Transformation 2, but (I guess) for all five of you... there ya' go. Most interesting is definitely the PSP game. Will it be a port of one of the previous Budokai games? Will it be a conversion of the arcade fighter Chou DragonBall Z? Who knows?!? Only time will tell, we suppose ^_~.

Look for Episode #0005 this coming Sunday, as always!

12 December 2005

Chou DragonBall Z to see JP PS2 Release!
VegettoEX @ 5:54 pm EST -- As we here at Daizenshuu EX originally explained back on December 1st, Banpresto's upcoming arcade fighter Chou DragonBall Z (see official site) is created on the System 246 hardware, which is essentially an arcade version of the PS2.

Well, yesterday IGN confirmed that Chou DragonBall Z will indeed see a PS2 release! (At least in Japan; a US release would make sense, though.) No set date has been given, but look for it in Spring 2006.

Big thanks to SplitNarcissist for the heads-up!

My goal is to have my (let's call him a) "correspondent" live at the arcades in Japan on the 22nd, when the game first drops. We'll be sure to let you know how it's going over in Japan!

11 December 2005

Daizenshuu EX — The Podcast: Episode #0004
VegettoEX @ 12:01 am EST -- Episode #0004 is available! This week, Julian takes a much-needed break. In his place, Meri and our super-special-guest Scott Melzer tackle astonishingly interesting aspects of DBZ fandom. DBZ's use in AMV and fan parodies is examined rather in-depth, and we drill Scott on just how big of a DB fan he really is...! The episode is slightly over an hour in length, so this one should keep you busy for a while!

Movie 12 Release Date
VegettoEX @ 9:26 pm EST -- FUNimation will be releasing DBZ movie 12 (which they are, surprisingly, accurately calling Fusion Reborn) on 28 March 2006. So saith those wacky folks at Anime on DVD, anyway! Janenba fanboys, start your engines.

I got an e-mail from Eddy at Anime Records (who published the I Love You! Project anime remixes that you can purchase on iTunes, including a remix of "DAN DAN Kokoro Hikarete 'ku"). He wanted to let me know that they are based out of Germany; you can check them out at www.animerecords.de. That certainly explains why the accent sounded neither American nor Japanese! Check them out, and if you've got an extra buck or two lying around, grab some songs.

Check out I Love You! Project on iTunes.

05 December 2005

"Ask VegettoEX" Returns! As "Ask Daizenshuu EX" !
VegettoEX @ 6:37 pm EST -- When I realized it had been exactly one year since the last update to the section, I just thought it would be hilarious to shock everyone and actually update it again ^_~. With a fresh name to it (since Julian ends up helping a ton), we've got a full two-dozen Q&A for you to read through! You're sure to learn a ton. Between this and the podcast, we certainly strive to get ourselves out there for you and provide a great outlet for your questions.

Check it out! Have fun!

Daizenshuu EX — The Podcast: Episode #0003
VegettoEX @ 12:01 am EST -- Episode #0003 is available! This week we tackle such subjects as "Saiya-jin" vs "Saiyan", Viz's extremely confusing use of "djinn" (essentially replacing the word "Majin"), and we even review the CDs that came out in 2005.

For more information (download link, other topics discussed, XML for subscription, etc.), visit our "Podcast" page.

02 December 2005

Chou DragonBall Z Official Website
VegettoEX @ 8:17 pm EST -- Hey, we haven't posted this yet! Chou DragonBall Z's official website has tons of great stuff on it (I'm such a sucker for this high-res artwork). There's a character gallery, some basics on the fighting engine, and more.

Of course, it's entirely in Japanese... :P

01 December 2005

Chou DragonBall Z Release
VegettoEX @ 10:04 pm EST -- The Magic Box is reporting that Banpresto will release the System 246 arcade fighting game Chou DragonBall Z (developed by ex-Capcom producer Funamizu, along with his studio Craft and Meister) on December 22nd in Japan.

There is no word on a home release as-of-yet, but since System 246 is based on the PlayStation 2 hardware, an eventual home release (at least in Japan) seems likely.

Head on over to our buddies at Kanzentai to read a little bit of new stuff about the movies "Dragon Box" and stuff from Toei.
