"DVD
Guide" + "Movie Guide" Updates &
More...
VegettoEX
@ 7:11 pm EST -- Interestingly, it looks like FUNimation
will be using the original Japanese cover art for
their release of DBZ movie 10. The respective "Movie
Guide" and "DVD
Guide" pages have been updated. The (in
general) "DVD
Guide" is sporting lots of other updates,
too, in various places.
Like
I just mentioned to Julian, I firmly believe FUNimation's
re-releases are done solely to
make our "DVD
Guide" a complete logistical nightmare
:D.
Congrats
to "The S" for winning the contest for
a free copy of Cell Games - Safrifice
(hehe...) on DVD! Don't remember that contest, do
you? You're right... you don't! Back on the 26th
I had mentioned (again) that I had yet to think
of a contest in order to give it away, and mis-spelled
the name of the disc as "Safrifice"...
"The S" pointed it out, and that was good
enough for me!
So
"The S" will receive a brand-new copy
of Cell Games - Sacrifice (look, I can
spell!) on bilingual DVD courtesy of FUNimation.
SSJ2 Gohan goodness. Hurray! Look for some other
neat little give-aways in the near future. |

DragonBall
Z & Z2 OST Review / Images
VegettoEX
@ 7:05 pm EST -- I've set up a forum
thread with a nice little review of the CD/DVD-combo
for the DragonBall Z & Z2 (Budokai
1 & 2) soundtrack, which was just released
in Japan last week. There's a bunch of images from
the bonus DVD, as well. Left a couple links to order
the CD from either CDJapan or Amazon Japan if you're
interested. Love to hear your thoughts!

Sheeeeeeeeeeesh!
VegettoEX
@ 7:05 pm EST -- Stop. E-mailing. DVD. Covers.
We
know how to right-click images on huge DVD retailer
sites. Really! Honest!
I
still haven't come up with an amusing-enough idea
for a mini-contest to give away the Cell Games
- Sacrifice DVD; hopefully I'll take care of
that, soon :P.
The
"Music
Downloads" section is... well... take a
look. The popularity of the theme songs to the various
Budokai games has risen far more insane
than anyone could ever have imagined. This is actually
great timing, though... now that the first of the
soundtracks has been officially released in Japan,
you owe it to the producers to actually put your
money where your mouse is!
We
were going to replace the MP3s with 96 kbps versions,
anyway, but this works out just as well ^_~. |

DBZ
Movies 1, 2, 3 Re-Releases
VegettoEX
@ 11:40 pm EST -- Known it for a little bit, but
now that there's an actual official announcement,
guess it's OK to make it clear. FUNimation
will indeed be re-dubbing and re-releasing the first
three DBZ movies. These movies were originally released
in 1997-1998 joint with Pioneer. The voices were
handled by the Ocean Group, just as the first two
DBZ TV seasons were. The English dub's musical score
was actually held over from the original Japanese
version.
These
re-releases will, just as the "Ultimate Uncut
Edition" versions of the first two DBZ TV seasons,
feature the English dub work of FUNimation's own
cast. It's very unlikely that they will feature
the original Japanese score... in fact, don't count
on it.
The
respective
"DVD Guide" page has been updated
with DBZ movie 1's release date (31 May 2005)...
they sure like to keep us on our toes with making
all sorts of crazy design-schemes and information-implementation
trying to make sense of all these re-releases...
*sigh* |

Some
More House-Cleaning
VegettoEX
@ 3:35 pm EST -- "The
Buzz" has been updated with some newly-relevant
information concerning a variety of things (DVDs,
manga, video games, etc.). Check it out.
Also,
the "CD
Singles" page of the "Music
Database" has been updated with a few new
images and a listing for the DBZ 2 & 3 OPs (no
image has been released, just yet).
Look
for a mini-contest soon for a free copy of Cell
Games - Sacrifice on DVD, courtesy of FUNimation. |

VegettoEX
@ 3:46 pm EST -- The soundtrack to the first two
Budokai games has officially been released
in Japan, today. It's packed with a bonus DVD with
some great extra stuff on it; as soon as mine comes
in, I'll be sure to say what's included :D

it'll run you about $30 before shipping. Here's
some links to the CD/DVD-combo on your (our!) favorite

VegettoEX
@ 5:10 pm EST -- The "Movie

it to the page).
Further
information can be found there-in! Enjoy. |

DragonBall
20th Anniversary Contest!
VegettoEX
@ 11:35 am EST -- Daniel Yarbrough II,
you are the winner! Daniel was the first (and only!)
person to send in a 100% correct answer-sheet, and
has been declared our winner of the DragonBall
20th anniversary contest! Daniel will be receiving
three original Japanese DBZ movie color tankôbon
for this amazing feat.
Now,
for all of you wondering how well you did, it's
time to go take a look! I do not
have individual scores for individual people. As
I was grading, if the best sheet thus far was 98%,
and you got at least two wrong, I simply stopped
grading your sheet. Also, if you did not include
your name/e-mail address, or sent me a MS Word document,
I didn't even take it. Remember to read
directions, folks!
Needless
to say, no more entries, please!
So
head on over into the "Contests"
page to see the answers to all of the image-pairs!
Also, come discuss it all over in the specific
forum thread we've set up. We hope you had a
great time with this one (we know we did)! Look
forward to some more contests in the near future...
And
happy 24th Birthday to Meri ^_~. |

First
Sagas In-Game Footage + Contest Date/Time~!!!
VegettoEX
@ 10:18 pm EST -- GameSpot has the first in-game
screen shots and even movie files from Atari's upcoming
Sagas (for multiple systems). Check
it all out; lookin' neat.
IMPORTANT~!!
CONTEST DETAILS~!!
And
it's time for contest details...! Well, as little
as you're going to get. This Saturday (January
15th), at 8 pm Eastern (American)
we will be putting up the contest, itself. Once
it goes online, there will be a single 24-hour period
allotted for entries. The first person
to send in a 100% correct (100 out of 100) entry
form will be the winner. In the event that no-one
sends in a 100% correct form, the person with the
highest number correct sent at the earliest time
will be the winner.
Hopefully
that makes sense. If it doesn't now, it will Saturday.
There
will be a single winner, and he/she will receive...
three original Japanese DBZ movie color tankôbon!
We've got copies of the books for DBZ movies 2,
9, and 10; the winner will be getting all three
of these books. Awesome stuff~!

Be

to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of DragonBall,
and this contest certainly does celebrate the manga...!

Upcoming
Releases / Events
VegettoEX
@ 4:30 pm EST -- January's Monthly Shônen
Jump is sitting in my hands, right now (geeze,
that was fast!). We will absolutely be doing our
own release of Neko Majin Z 4, so be on
the lookout for it in the coming weeks. Neko
Majin Z 5 will follow some time soon after
that!
The
DragonBall 20th anniversary contest is
near-done! We're hoping to have it all done and
up this coming weekend. Of course, we'll announce
the exact date and time it will debut ahead of time,
so you'll be ready to pounce on it when it's up...! |

"Commander
Red" DVD Set $8.99 @ Amazon
VegettoEX
@ 1:08 pm EST -- The "Commander Red" 2-disc
DVD set (from the original DragonBall TV
series) is an astonishing $8.99 over
on Amazon. Of course, I ordered my own to guarantee
I get it before you all buy-out the stock, but get
it while it lasts ^_~.
I'm
not one to usually post about deals like this, but
this is too good to pass up, if you don't already
own it.
UPDATE:
Sold out. Did you get your order in?! |

Random
House-cleaning
VegettoEX
@ 5:09 pm EST -- Long overdue, but I've gone ahead
and updated with all DVD-ripped screen caps for
the DBGT
TV Special synopsis. The eye-catch caps remain
untouched, since they were not included on the FUNimation
domestic release.
I
think I've only received, say, three "Ask
VegettoEX" submissions in the last... month?
Anyone have any questions they need answered? Want
answered? I could answer?
Been
working on a few other random things, but you don't
need to know about any of that, just yet... ^_~ |

Neko
Majin Z 5 Hits Stores...
VegettoEX
@ 1:05 pm EST -- It's January, and so February's
Monthly Shônen Jump has been released
to stores across Japan (and hopefully a few local
Japanese bookstores, as well...). As we were told,
we're on the receiving end of a two-month Neko
Majin Z run, with chapter five coming out this
month!
Left
is the magazine's cover, right is the chapter's
(being the actual Neko Majin Z chapter)
cover. And who's that on the chapter's cover...?!?
If
anyone could... ya' know... send me (actual print,
not scanned) copies of these Monthly Shônen
Jump issues (Jan. '05 & Feb. '05), that'd
be great... I'm having a tough time tracking them
down, locally... >.> |

My
Baby's All Grown Up...
VegettoEX
@ 1:30 pm EST -- In all the confusion and excitement
over DragonBall's 20th anniversary, another
important anniversary totally slipped my mind.
Daizenshuu
EX
began its humble beginnings as VegettoEX's Home
Page on my AOL space seven years ago this month.
I
won't bore you all with a long and tear-inducing
rant, but I will say that in my
seven years, I have never enjoyed both the DragonBall
property and working on this site as much as I have
the last two years in the resurrection of this site.
Thank you to all the old fans still visiting; thank
you to all the new fans who are looking for something
"new" and find it in us; thank you to
Julian who's the best guy to ever work with on a
site; and thanks to anyone else who happens to be
reading this.
You
guys and gals rock my socks off.
In
other news, you can check out the sheer awesomeness
that is the Japanese DragonBall Z 3 box
art here
on Play-Asia. Thanks, Dewgel. |

Various
DVD Cover Art Updates
VegettoEX
@ 12:17 am EST -- I've had a very difficult time
coming up with a way to phrase a statement without
sounding slightly irritated or rude. Rather than
shield it, I guess the proper thing to do would
be to simply say it!
I'm
very sorry if I do not update the "DVD
Guide" the very instant a new cover art
is released. This does not mean
that I do not know about it, or am somehow unable
to go to either Amazon
or RightStuf
and right-click the images, myself. It simply means
I just haven't gotten around to it, yet! There's
no need for everyone to flood my e-mail in-box with
image attachments ^^;;.
That
said, box art has been added for the final Cell
Games volume, the first Great Saiyaman
volume, and the fifth (and final) DBGT: Lost
Episodes volume. Check them all out over in
the "DVD
Guide" on their respective pages.
We're
still hard-at-work on the DB 20th Anniversary contest,
and while December has passed into January, we're
still partying hard with celebration! We hope you'll
join us in this celebration when we're ready to
post the contest, so stay tuned! |
