Synopsis
As
his ship heads off into space, Bebi is blasted
into the sun by SSJ4 Goku's Kamehameha. The narrator
explains that Bebi has been destroyed thanks to
Goku, and peace has returned to the world. 100
years have passed since then. The only one still
alive from these events is Pan, who is an old
woman, now. As she prays to a grave (marked "Son
Goku") a young Goku runs up to "Grandma
Pan"!
Pan
instructs Goku Jr. in some training, but unfortunately,
it seems to be of no use. Goku Jr. hops on a log
and attempts to balance on it, but instead ends
up rolling down the hill! Even a baseball is too
hard to catch! Pan tells the boy that her grandfather
was so strong that NO-ONE could stop him; since
he's that Goku's descendant, there must be great
power within him. Goku Jr. is interested, rather,
in having dinner...
In
class (at an Orange Star School, no less!) Goku
Jr. leaves at the bell only to be tripped down
the stairs by Pack, the local bully. Pack picks
up Goku's pencil and demands it. Goku Jr. says
it's OK, and is made fun of for not getting angry.
Pack's lackeys all tease Goku Jr. for wanting
to be stronger (they all seem to know about his
training with Pan), but it seems to be going nowhere.
Back
home, Pan scolds Goku Jr. for not fighting back.
Goku Jr. responds that they were stronger, and
there was a group of them! In the middle of her
scolding, Pan suddenly drops her plate and falls
to the floor unconscious. At Satan City Hospital,
Pan lays in bed surrounded by doctors while Goku
Jr. swears he'll become stronger if she gets well.
Pan, smiling to the boy, tells him that his real
strength is bravery. Pan also tells him that he
is special; he's just like "him" in
every way, and is why she had him named "Son
Goku" when he was born. She could tell right
from the start how special he was! Pan flinches
in pain, and the nurse scurries Goku Jr. outside.
Goku
Jr. asks if his grandma will die, and the nurse
merely lowers her head, refusing to answer. Goku
Jr. runs out into the rain crying. Back at home,
Goku Jr. clutches his pillow tight in the dark
living room. He looks up and walks over to the
mantle, and notices a picture of Pan (in her younger
years) holding a Dragon Ball. Goku Jr. thinks
back to a time that his grandma told him of the
Dragon Balls, and comes to the conclusion that
getting the Dragon Ball (just one, mind you!)
will be what it takes to make her well, again.
Goku
Jr. heads down the road with a very large backpack,
headed for Mt. Paozu, where old Goku used to live.
Down the street, kids make fun of Goku Jr. for
wanting to go there, saying it is filled with
monsters. Goku Jr. gets upset and sparkles with
energy for a moment, pushing the lackeys away.
Without pausing or changing his expression, he
walks right past Pack down the street, not even
looking back.
A
truck drives down a long stretch of highway as
Goku Jr. hunches over along the road to catch
his breath. Complaining about how far away it
is, he falls over in exhaustion. Another truck
drives by, covering him in dirt. A third truck
actually stops, and the drivers asks where the
boy is heading. Goku Jr. responds that he's going
to Mt. Paozu, and asks if he can bum a ride. On
the truck, the driver offers Goku Jr. a wide range
of snacks and fatty desserts (stuffing himself
in the process), while Goku Jr. watches eager-eyed
out the side of the window. The driver stops and
suggests Goku Jr. hop out to take a pee. Goku
runs off over to a sign by the side of the road,
and the driver throws Goku Jr.'s bag over to him;
the driver stole all of Goku Jr.'s food and drove
off!
Goku
Jr. continues walking all on his own, his stomach
making all sorts of noises. As he reaches a bank,
Pack is sitting by the road and tells Goku Jr.
he's going to go on the trip with him. Actually
seeming quite concerned, Pack tells Goku Jr. not
to trust nice people, and continues to offer to
go with Goku Jr.. As Goku Jr. sits and thinks
to himself, Pack runs in and out with a bunch
of food, and drives off with Goku Jr.! The two
head off down the road and dive down a hill. They
stop for a breather, laughing, and stare up at
the sky. The two stops for a pee break. Goku Jr.
tells Pack that he peed on himself; Pack proceeds
to run after Goku Jr. with open hands! Eewwww!
The two stop as they notice Mt. Paozu off in the
distance.
Later
that night, the two new friends are having some
dinner over a fire. Pack asks why they're traveling
to Mt. Paozu, so Goku Jr. explains he needs the
Dragon Ball to help his sick grandma. Pack has
a little flashback to a time that Pan saved him
from an attacker's baseball bat, and comments
on how nice (albeit scary!) she is. Pack offers
Goku Jr. some of his own food, even though he
probably could have used it himself.
The
two suddenly notice a large group of wolves surrounding
them and run for their lives! Goku begins to cry
as he is pinned up against a tree. Just as the
group of wolves run in to pounce on him, Goku
Jr. suddenly blasts off into the sky, knocking
them all away. In the meantime, Pack is saved
from the wolves by a shotgun blast from a blonde
woman. As he gets up, Pack calls for Goku Jr.,
who is up at the top of a tree crying for help,
seemingly unaware of how he got there in the first
place.
Back
at the blonde woman's home, everyone is treated
to some nice food. The women walks into a different
room and transforms into an ugly, green-skinned
weird creature! She and another blob-type creature
mention how they have two special guests for dinner...
humans... to eat! The green woman plunges a knife
into Goku Jr.'s bed, but the two friends are hiding
outside the window. Pack asks how Goku Jr. knew
what was going on, to which he responds that he
now knows he shouldn't trust nice people! The
green monster woman chases down Goku and Pack
some more as they fall to the ground in shock.
The
green monster mutters that she'll cut the two
boys up and toss them in the pot to boil, hovering
over them with a knife! Goku Jr. smirks and tells
the woman that she has such a beautiful face!
As she admires herself, Goku Jr. and Pack try
to run away... but that won't fool her! Her
hair stretches out and begins to choke Goku Jr.
Pack picks up a frying pan and is about to fight,
but the green monster woman forms a battle axe.
Goku Jr.'s hand suddenly forms a bolt of energy
around itself as his eyes flash open; in a split
second, the lady monster is knocked away! Goku
Jr. falls to the ground unconscious. Pack picks
him up and begins to run off as the lady monster
screams after them.
The
two reach a bridge and stop to catch their breath.
Goku Jr. begins to whine again that he's too scared,
but Pack is already crossing the bridge. It starts
to fall apart underneath him, but he makes it
across to the edge, calling after Goku Jr. He
slowly starts to walk over the bridge, as well,
it creaking underneath him. He makes the mistake
of looking over the edge and starts to become
too scared of the height and falls to his knees!
He mutters and tries to convince himself that
he's not too scared to cross, but the wind picks
up and starts to shake the bridge back and forth.
Pack calls for Goku Jr. to hurry up, but he can't
move, and is knocked over to the bottom of the
bridge hanging on for his life. Pack heads back
to the middle of the bridge and reaches down for
Goku Jr., who is far too scared to reach up. The
bridge breaks and the two boys fall! Goku Jr.
lands on a small cliff, but Pack is nowhere to
be seen.
Somehow,
Goku Jr. manages to climb his way up to the top...
all by himself. He cooks himself a meal over a
fire, obviously distressed that his new friend
must have fallen to his death, all in an attempt
to save him.
Goku
Jr. continues on, and thinks he sees Pack... but
it's just his mind playing tricks on him. Goku
Jr. cries to himself and wishes he had the courage
Pack showed. Suddenly, a bear runs out behind
Goku Jr. from a bush! A strange lizard-man pops
out, as well. Goku Jr. runs off, too scared to
do anything! He pauses, and convinces himself
he he should not be so scared... and runs back
to help the bear. Just as the lizard-man is about
to eat the bear, Goku Jr. cracks him over the
head with a large stick. The lizard-man turns
his attention to Goku Jr. and easily breaks the
stick... and then pounces on Goku Jr.'s head!
His eyes light up, though, as a strange golden
blast fills his mouth and blasts him off into
the distance.
Goku
Jr. tends to his wounds and continues to ponder
what he's really doing out here with his new baby
bear friend. A giant bear emerges from nowhere
and growls at Goku! The baby bear runs over to
his father and seemingly convinces him that Goku
Jr. is a friend. The father moves over to Goku
Jr. and picks him up onto his back. Goku Jr. asks
the father bear if he will take him to the Dragon
Ball; the bear smiles and seems to growl a kind
noise of agreement!
Goku
Jr. and his new bear friends continue on their
way down a path, when he spots a house up in the
distance... it must be the house Grandma Pan told
them about! As Goku Jr. runs up the path, the
green monster lady and her lackeys appear (including
the weird lizard-man from before), and Goku Jr.
runs back down the path. Goku Jr. seems to disappear,
but when the monsters look over the edge, Goku
Jr. is taunting them with his bare behind. Goku
Jr. yelps and runs off when a new monster, a large
pig with a cannon (the Monster King) appears!
He seems to be the leader of all the other monsters,
who cower before him. The Monster King fires a
blast at Goku Jr., who struggles to get back up
to his feet. Goku Jr. turns around to see the
Monster King's foot about to lower onto him, when
the father bear suddenly attacks the Monster King
from behind. The Monster King clobbers the bear
with a giant club, giving Goku Jr. and the baby
bear time to start running away. the
Monster King is so large, however, that he easily
catches up with them. The Monster King punches
the father bear down a cliff, muttering that he
will eat them all. The father bear gets back up
on his two feet and attempts to scare the Monster
King off, but is beaten up quite badly. The Monster
King picks up the bear and begins to strangle
him, Goku Jr. watching in horror. Goku Jr. flashes
golden for a moment, grabs the baby bear, and
begins running into the distance.
The
baby bear watches as the Monster King forms an
axe and is about to decapitate his father; he
struggles out of Goku Jr.'s grasp, and runs back
to help. Goku Jr. turns around, sees what is about
to happen, screams for the Monster King to stop...
...
and explodes into Super Saiyan!
Taking
off his red bandana, Goku Jr. teleports over to
the Monster King and lands a flurry of attacks
in succession, knocking him to the ground with
ease. As the Monster King struggles to get back
up, he asks how the boy has so much power. Without
answering, Goku Jr. lands a kick directly into
the Monster King's face, knocking him into a mountain.
The Monster King's lackeys watch from the distance
and run off, while Goku Jr. falls out of Super
Saiyan onto the ground, asleep.
The
baby bear licks Goku Jr.'s face to wake him up.
The father bear is standing over them, so Goku
Jr. makes a remark that he must have killed You
for them! The father bear looks at Goku Jr. with
a VERY confused face!
Goku
Jr. barges into the house he saw before, which
was apparently abandoned many years ago. He finally
sees a glimmer of light in the middle of the house...
it's the four star Dragon Ball! Goku Jr. brings
it outside, clasps his hands together, and prays
to God for his grandma Pan to get better. Goku
Jr. opens an eye, quickly closes it, and asks
for Pack to be taken care of, as well. Goku Jr.
starts yelling at the Dragon Ball, saying that
Shenlong is supposed to appear! He begins screaming
when nothing at all happens, and throws the Dragon
Ball away, cursing and pounding the ground.
A
man with a kind voice picks up the ball and tells
the boy he has to collect all SEVEN Dragon Balls;
didn't Pan ever tell him?! He looks up to see...
GOKU! Goku tries to count on his fingers to see
how many "greats" he is, but (giving
up on the counting) tells the boy to just call
him "Grandpa Goku." Goku remarks how
strong the boy is, even if he doesn't think so.
Goku, still having trouble figuring out the exact
level of ancestry, confirms for the boy that he
is indeed brave.
Suddenly
a helicopter appears in the sky... it's Pan and
Pack! Pan remarks that she couldn't die so easily.
Goku Jr. turns around and starts to explain that
the Dragon Ball granted his wish... but where's
Grandpa Goku?! A voice in the distance explains
that it was the young boy's bravery that saved
them. "Good luck, Son Goku!" Goku Jr.
smiles in acknowledgement!
The
narrator explains that our short story about Goku
Jr. and the Dragon Ball is over. The four star
ball is in the young boy's hands and will be his
keepsake of his grandpa, just like it was for
the original Goku and his grandpa when
he was a boy.
Up
in the sky, Grandpa Goku smiles, looking down
below...
(end
credits, "Don't
you see!")
