Basic
Synopsis
While
Goku and Chi-Chi attend a meeting to get
Gohan into a nice private school, the rest of
the Z-Warriors are off having a picnic. A spaceship
lands, and a Saiyan appears from inside, beckoning
for "King Vegeta" to come with him to
destroy the "Densetsu no Sûpâ Saiya-jin"
(Legendary Super Saiyan). Vegeta leaves with him,
while everyone else follows.
On "New Planet Vegeta," we are introduced
to this Saiyan (Paragus) and his son, Broli. Vegeta
is led around in an attempt to discover and defeat
this "Legendary Super Saiyan," but is
unable to find him. Goku is summoned out of his
meeting by Kaiô-sama, who tells him that a galaxy
has already been taken over, with his coming next!
Goku teleports off to where he senses the Saiyan
Ki, which turns out to be "New Planet
Vegeta."
Goku
and Broli seem to have some kind of chemistry,
and Broli begins to grow angry. Paragus somehow
calms his son down. We eventually discover that
Broli and Goku were born on the same day! While
Goku was born with a combat power level of 2, Broli was
born with one of 10,000! Unfortunately, Goku's
non-stop crying in the crib next to him slightly "got"
to Broli.
Broli
eventually starts to go mad, and attacks Goku
and the others. Vegeta slumps over as he experiences
the true power of the "Legendary Super Saiyan."
Broli thrashes Goku, Gohan, Trunks, and Piccolo.
Goku is forced to ask for his friends to lend
him their energy. Vegeta initially refuses, saying
that he should not have to lend energy to such
a pitiful, lower-rank Saiyan. He eventually gives
in, though, and Goku is able to defeat Broli.

Notes
DBZ
movie eight goes back to FUNimation's previous technique of
using "real American music" in the
dub score, featuring metal music by bands such
as Pantera (in addition to more typical incidental music
composed by both Bruce Faulconer and Mark Menza). The Japanese version (found only on
the uncut DVD), of course, retains the original Japanese
score, as well as superbly translated subtitles provided by Steven
J. "Daimao" Simmons.
