"Gokû no Daihenshin"
("Goku's Great Transformation")
Canon Segment: 44 Seconds
Ôzaru Goku is big enough to bust through the glass ceiling of their steel cell, as well as smash up the surrounding castle. Yamcha says they can escape now, and tells Goku he has done enough and he should go back to normal. Goku next smashes up the roof to Pilaf and his gang's bedroom.
Filler Segment: 7 Minutes, 3 Seconds
Mai and Shuu scream in horror at the monster. Pilaf simply complains of all the noise and tries to go back to sleep. Mai screams "Pilaf-sama!", so he wakes up, rubs his eyes... and stares directly at Goku, who roars at him. Pilaf screams, and tells Mai and Shuu to get him. They throw pillows and slippers and such at Goku, obviously to no avail. Even Pilaf knows that this is the wrong way to fight him, and calls out the monster. Goku roars back at him.
The three of them scream and run for their lives as Goku pounds and busts up the room around them. Meanwhile, Yamcha climbs to the top of what is left of the wall. He tells the others to hurry, so Bulma suggests he do more than say it and assist her by lending his hand. Yamcha is hesitant about such a request. Bulma dangles from the wall, until Oolong headbutts her from below, sending her over the top and falling down to the ground below.
Pilaf, Mai, and Shuu head for a hangar, where they board their plane. Mai tries to start it up, but something appears to be wrong with the engine! She tries and tries as Goku continues smashing up the castle. Pilaf sees him and screams about their impending death. Just as he does that, however, the engine finally starts. The three of them exclaim joyfully as the plane rolls out of the castle and takes off into the air outside.
Goku continues busting things up as Yamcha and the others try to escape. Bulma falls down, explaining that her leg is injured. Oolong attempts to help her, and then asks Yamcha for his help. Yamcha hesitates, thinking to himself that he cannot touch women. Goku stomps along, headed in their direction. Oolong asks again for Yamcha's help, insisting on the urgency of the situation. Yamcha sucks it up, and carries all three of them under his arms as he runs forward.
Pilaf glares at Goku through the window of the plane, angry over the destruction of his castle. He tells Mai to go back. She and Shuu protest, but obey nonetheless. Yamcha ducks behind a piece of castle, exhausted, where Bulma blushes and he tosses her (and the other two) aside. As the plane approaches Goku, Pilaf orders them to fire. Bullets shower his giant body as his friends watch on in horror. The plane then flies around above Goku, so he attempts to swat at it.
Realizing those bullets were not enough, Pilaf wants to use a missile. The missile is a direct hit, scaring his friends as Pilaf's gang cheers. Goku collapses, and the plane hovers over him, where Pilaf declares his supremacy. They get out of the plane, where Pilaf gets angry over the destruction of the castle and tries kicking the giant body. He then stomps on the tail, which causes Goku's fingers to flinch. Mai and Shuu notice and scream, so Pilaf turns around to notice Goku waking up. The three of them quickly head back to their plane and fly off.
Canon Segment: 1 Minute, 21 Seconds
Before the plane gets very far, Goku tosses a piece of a tower at it, knocking off a wing and sending it spinning out of control. The tower piece lands outside the castle, near where Yamcha and friends had been running. The plane then crashes to the ground and explodes, leaving Pilaf, Mai, and Shuu dumbstruck in the wreckage. Yamcha, sitting with Oolong and Pu'er near the tower piece, says that was close. He suggests they just keep running, since there is no use talking to Goku in his current state. Before they can leave, Bulma calls out. She is stuck beneath the piece of the castle tower. Yamcha tries to lift it off of her, to no avail.
Filler Segment: 1 Minute, 38 Seconds
With a bit of help from Oolong and Pu'er, Yamcha manages to lift the castle piece, freeing Bulma. As they run away, Goku's foot stomps to the ground, knocking her into the air, where Goku grabs her.
Bulma screams at Goku to let her go. He lifts her up to his head, where she looks straight into his mouth and faints at the sight of them.
Yamcha wonders what to do. Luckily, Pu'er suddenly reminds him that Goku's tail is his weakness. This gives Yamcha an idea: he uses Rôga-fûfû-ken to break up the nearby chunk of castle, and creates a sword out of the stone from it. He then rushes over to Goku's tail and tries to slice Goku's tail with it, but the stone sword shatters in the process. Yamcha then holds onto Goku's tail for dear life, causing Goku to go crazy and swing around violently. Pu'er and Oolong rush over to help hold onto the tail, which paralyzes Goku.
Canon Segment: 48 Seconds
Yamcha now tells Pu'er to turn into a pair of scissors and cut off Goku's tail, hoping that it knocks him out. Pu'er does as he is told, and transforms into a giant pair of scissors. He then chops off Goku's tail, and not only does it knock Goku unconscious, but he returns to normal!
Filler Segment: 1 Minute, 23 Seconds
Pilaf notices that the monster has turned back into Goku, realizing he was the one that did all this. Mai thinks they will have to rebuild all of this, which causes Pilaf to cry about all the hard work it took to build it in the first place. He wants to get revenge, so he hands Mai and Shuu guns, and encourages them to go kill those guys while the boy is unconscious. Pilaf himself then runs in the other direction as they go. Noticing their boss is trying to ditch them, Mai and Shuu quickly turn back to catch up with him.
Canon Segment: 7 Minutes, 2 Seconds
The sun rises over the ruins of Pilaf's castle. Oolong says it is all because of Goku, who is still sleeping, that they were put through such an incident. Yamcha reminds him that they also would not have escaped if not for Goku. Bulma thinks it is best that they not tell him he stepped on his grandfather. Oolong begins to wonder if Goku is an alien or something. Yamcha doubts he will turn into a monster again now that his tail has been cut off.
Goku now begins to wake up, cheerful as ever. He wonders what happened to his clothes, so Bulma tells Oolong to give Goku that underwear. Oolong refuses to give up his special present from Shenlong, but he does instead give the boy his own pants. Goku then falls over, so Yamcha tells him it must be due to the change in his balance after losing his tail. The boy looks at his backside and worries over the missing tail... but gets over it right away. He is, however, worried about the Nyoi-bô. Yamcha tells him it is probably in what is left of the castle, so Goku runs over to it, repeatedly stumbling along the way.
Oolong wonders if they should all go their separate ways, since they cannot search for the Dragon Balls for a year. Bulma thinks about how she will have to wait a year for a great boyfriend... until she realizes something. Yamcha thinks about how he will be weak around women for another year, and who knows how long until he can get married from there... until he realizes something. The two of them suddenly look at each other.
Goku has found the Nyoi-bô, so he cheerfully heads back to the others, still stumbling. He finds that Oolong is quite annoyed, and looks over to see Yamcha and Bulma dancing happily. Bulma tells Goku that she, Yamcha, and Pu'er are all headed to the city, and asks Goku to come with them, promising him lots of female attention. Goku wants to go train with Kame-Sen'nin, though. She then asks Oolong, who is intrigued by the thought of lots of girls. Bulma doubts the girls would like him, though, but Oolong will go anyway.
Goku suggests they all search for the Dragon Balls again in a year. Bulma and Yamcha then giggle about not needing the Dragon Balls anymore. Goku wonders how he will find Grandpa's memento, so Bulma gives him her Dragon Radar. Yamcha then pops out a Capsule plane, and wishes Goku well on his training with Muten-Rôshi. Bulma promises to visit. Goku then calls for Kinto-Un, and he flies off, waving goodbye to the others in the plane. Goku is very excited about his training as he flies through the air!

In the anime, Pilaf attempts to sleep through Goku smashing up the bedroom, but he wakes right up with the others in the manga. The scene is also a lot shorter overall, with almost nothing but screaming and running, aside from Mai turning around once to wonder what the monster is.
When the gang climbs out of the steel cell, the manga does not show anything before Bulma falling to the ground, so how and why she falls is a mystery. There is, however, one line from Yamcha, in which he tells them to hurry up and escape, or they will all be killed.
The order of some events are switched around in the anime. In the manga: Pilaf's gang runs through the hangar, Yamcha carries the others under his arms on the way out of the castle, Mai starts the plane, and the plane takes off. In the anime, Pilaf's gang runs into the hangar first, and has a great deal of trouble starting the plane. After that, Yamcha's group runs through the castle, Bulma injures her leg, Yamcha hesitates to touch her, and then he carries her and the other two under his arms on the way out of the castle.
In the manga, Bulma is not freed from under the castle piece until sometime after Goku reverts to normal. It is not shown exactly when, but she is still trapped at the end of Chapter 22, and free in the beginning of Chapter 23. Similarly, in the manga, Pu'er reminds Yamcha about Goku's weakness due to the urgency of her being trapped while Goku is approaching, and not because of Goku holding her. Yamcha then goes straight to grabbing the tail, with no assistance needed to paralyze Goku. Yamcha is thus the one left holding Goku's tail when he reverts, rather than Oolong as in the anime. |

The first giant filler segment actually has a few portions of manga material in it, but they were all very brief, and some changed around a lot. It made up less than 20 seconds, non-consecutive, in that 7+ minute segment. These are all described further under "Altered Scenes".
The flashback to Goku discussing his grandpa's death is filler.
Yamcha does not check Bulma's leg in the manga, since she never injured it there in the first place.
In the manga, Goku does not mention wanting to train to become as strong as whoever busted up the castle.
