"Tsuyokute Warui Sabaku no Yamucha"
("Strong and Bad: Yamcha of the Desert")
Canon Segment: 3 minutes, 5 seconds
As they travel down a river, Bulma expresses her happiness over how quickly they gathered five of the Dragon Balls. Goku wonders why they are bringing Oolong, as does Oolong himself. She says his transformation abilities may come in handy on their journey. Oolong wants no part of this boring journey nonsense, until Bulma suggests she may sleep in her underwear tonight. Goku decides to pat-pat Oolong, declaring that he is a boy. Oolong yells that this should have been obvious just by looking.
Goku complains about the length of the trip, which prompts Oolong to wonder exactly where they are going. Bulma says they still have three days worth of travel to go to reach Mount Frypan. Upon hearing that name, Oolong freaks out and tells them that the dreadful Gyû-maô lives there. Since they obviously have no idea how scary he is, Oolong turns into a fish and swims away. Goku prepares to swim after him.
Filler Segment: 31 seconds
Hiding amongst a school of fish, Oolong grumbles about how crazy they are, until he hears Goku's voice telling him to halt. Oolong quickly hides himself in some seaweed, causing Goku to ultimately lose sight of him.
Goku then swims back up to the boat unsuccessful, telling Bulma that he got away.
Canon Segment: 16 minutes, 53 seconds
Bulma has a much better plan to bring him back. She takes a pair of her panties and hooks them to a fishing line, and casts it into the water. It does not take long for her to get a bite, and she yanks her catch back into the boat. The three of them then continue down the river. Oolong pouts and decides he will stay, but wants those panties. Instead, Bulma gives him a candy ball. She will give him her panties if he is useful. Oolong then eats the candy, hoping she will keep her promise. Goku wants one too, but cannot have one. Oolong says it is because he is the type women prefer.
Suddenly, the boat's engine comes to a stop; they are out of gas. Bulma asks Oolong to turn into gasoline, but he cannot do that. She then asks him to turn into an oar so they can reach the shore and use gasoline via a Hoi Poi Capsule. Oolong complies, so Goku rows the boat across the river not-so-gently. Oolong wants her panties now, since he was useful. Bulma says he is naive for thinking he would get them so easily. He complains, as she suddenly discovers all of her Capsules are gone.
She asks Oolong to turn into a fish and check the river, but he insists it would be impossible in such a huge river. Goku does not understand the problem, as Bulma cries over the loss of her house and all her vehicles. She cannot go anywhere now. Goku suggests walking, and she yells that it is no problem for him with Kinto-Un. Goku then suggests that Oolong turn into a bike for her. Bulma thinks that is a great idea... but Oolong is gone. He will not go to that terrible mountain, even if it means giving up on those panties. Goku searches the area on Kinto-Un, but is unable to find him.
Bulma, however, has a plan. She begins calling out "Pee Pee Pee", which has quite a discomforting effect on Oolong. She explains that the candy ball she gave him earlier is PP Candy. If you eat it, you will get diarrhea when someone calls out "Pee Pee". Oolong apologizes and returns to them. Bulma tells him to turn into a bike now, but it turns out he is not strong enough to support her weight. He also explains the problem of the time limit on his ability. Oolong does think he can turn into panties for her, though. Bulma quickly denies the usefulness of that. Goku says they have no choice but to walk.
Some time passes, and the three of them have ended up in a desert. Bulma and Oolong pant and complain, while Goku, who is not riding Kinto-Un just for their sake, is not the least bit bothered by the heat or the walking. Bulma declares that she cannot go any further, and whines about wanting a bath and a bed, until she passes out below a stone structure. Oolong considers sleeping as well, while Goku admits he is hungry.
Pu'er spots the two boys through his telescope, and runs inside to tell Yamcha about the "ducks" out there. Yamcha thinks they have not had any "game" in a while. He goes out to look at them himself, and doubts a boy and a pig would have any money. Pu'er thinks they may have Hoi Poi Capsules, though. Yamcha tells him to prepare the Jet Momonga. Goku and Oolong meanwhile discuss their hunger, leading to Goku actually asking Oolong if he likes pork! The two of them then spot something approaching: Yamcha and Pu'er.
Yamcha gets off of his Jet Momonga and introduces himself. He tells Goku and Oolong to hand over their money and Capsules if they want to live. Oolong and Pu'er then recognize each other from transformation school. Oolong apparently used to tease Pu'er, and got thrown out for stealing the teacher's underwear. Yamcha wants them to hurry and hand over their valuables. Oolong says they are not giving him anything, so Yamcha prepares to fight. Oolong tells Goku to beat him up. Goku does not understand why, until Oolong explains that Yamcha wants to kill them. Goku asks him why he wants to kill them, as Oolong hides under the stone structure with Bulma.
Yamcha pulls out his sword, prompting Goku to fight back with his bô. When Yamcha sees the bô extend at Goku's will, he asks Goku how he acquired it. Goku replies that he received it from his dead grandfather. Yamcha knows of only one person that has the Nyoibô, and asks for his grandfather's name. Son Gohan, of course! Even Oolong knows that name. But Yamcha wants to resume fighting, and uses his Rôgafûfûken to send Goku flying into the distance. Oolong compliments Yamcha, before turning into a fly and attempting to escape. Pu'er turns into a flyswatter and knocks him back to the ground. Oolong then relents and prepares to hand over his M Size Capsule.
Just then, Goku emerges from the rubble. Yamcha is surprised he is alive, and realizes he will have to do something more than Rôgafûfûken. Goku is prepared to use Janken, though. With a "Guu", he halts Yamcha's fist; with a "Choki", he pokes out Yamcha's eyes; and, with a "Paa", he smacks Yamcha across the desert. Yamcha is quite angry now, but Goku's hunger is starting to really take a toll on him. As Yamcha charges toward him, Bulma suddenly wakes up. Yamcha comes to a halt and falls over when he sees her. He and Pu'er decide to retreat, leaving Oolong and Goku confused. At their hideout, Yamcha discusses his fear of women with Pu'er. He declares that somehow or other, he will get their Capsule, though.

In the manga, Bulma immediately stops Goku from swimming after Oolong, so he never gets completely undressed. Thus, when Bulma is hooking her panties to the fishing line, he is standing in the boat butt naked in the anime, but standing in the same position fully clothed in the manga.
When Goku does Janken "Paa", he sends Yamcha flying up into the air. In the manga, Yamcha hits the top of the panel, as though it were a ceiling, and bounces back to the ground. (In fact, the top border of the panel actually "cracks" from the impact.) In the anime, however, Yamcha just bounces off one of the stone structures before hitting the ground. |

Oolong's explanation of Gyû-maô's terror is much longer and more detailed in the anime. He doesn't say much about him in the manga. Pretty much the entire black background clip scene is filler.
In the manga, Goku does not accuse Bulma of using evil magic when he hears about the PP Candy. The one month effectiveness of the candy is also explained in a footnote outside of the panels, rather than by Bulma directly as it is in the anime.
For what it is worth, the firecrackers that appear while Oolong is in the bushes are not in the manga.
