"Arararaa! Tama ga Nai!"
("Oh My My! No Balls!")
Canon Segment: 6 minutes, 20 seconds
After a great deal of traveling, night is approaching, so Bulma decides to stop and set up a capsule house so that they can rest and eat. Bulma learns that not only is Goku unfamiliar with electricity, but he also has never had a bath before. Bulma generously decides to give him one. When she goes to scrub his behind, she tells him to take off his tail accessory. Goku is confused, and then decides to just grab the brush with his tail and scrub his own butt. Bulma freaks out upon realizing this boy has a real tail, leaving Goku to conclude that only men have tails. She thinks he may be right, until he says Grandpa did not have a tail either. So it must just be Goku that is odd!
Bulma decides to take a nice, relaxing bath of her own, until Goku walks in on her. She asks what he is doing here, as he comments about the butt on her chest. She explains what it really is (a bust), and then asks Goku how old he is. When he says 14, she throws him out for peeping, since that is only two years younger than she is. As she blow-dries her hair afterwards, she threatens to call the police if he tries peeping again. Goku just says he is hungry.
Filler Segment: 3 minutes, 34 seconds
Meanwhile, Pilaf scolds Shuu for being an idiot, and explains that they must find the Dragon Balls as soon as possible before bad people use them to take over the world. Pilaf clarifies that if he ruled the world, it would be good for everyone. People that pee and fart arbitrarily would be punished by being made into pilaf. Just as he says this, Pilaf himself passes gas. He threatens to cut Shuu up with a chainsaw and make him into pilaf, until Shuu accepts the blame for it. Mai then returns, and relays information of a mysterious valley to the north. Pilaf suspects there may be a Dragon Ball there, and sends Mai and Shuu off to find it.
Canon Segment: 33 seconds
Goku is displeased with this "bread" stuff, and thinks this soup is bitter, too.
Bulma explains that the soup is actually coffee (Goku has little familiarity with the conveniences and pleasures of modern city life), and that he will not grow if he is so picky. Goku then puts on his shoes and says he is going to get something more tasty (which we can assume is quite different than what Bulma envisions).
Filler Segment: 3 minutes, 9 seconds
Goku has not found much of interest outside, aside from a centipede. But then he spots a large bird in the air, which, in actuality, is Mai and Shuu's plane. They decide to land and begin searching, and start to worry when all they see is bones. They soon notice a glowing light, which must be a Dragon Ball. Goku then arrives, and says he saw this bird first. They tell him to go home, as more glowing lights appear. These lights turn out to be the eyes of wolves, whom Goku thinks look tasty. He begins beating them up, as Mai and Shuu run towards their plane. As they fly off, Goku thinks his bird is getting away, and chases it as wolves chase him. He uses his bô to propel himself into the air to give the bird a hard kick, which sends it crashing to the ground. Upon inspecting the crash, Goku realizes it was not a bird after all, as Mai and Shuu hang dazed from tree branches.
Canon Segment: 6 minutes, 52 seconds
Goku returns to the capsule house, where Bulma is disgusted with the centipede and wolf he has. He cooks them over a fire to eat by himself. After he finishes, he is ready for bed, and is excited at the thought of getting to sleep with someone on a nice bed. Bulma says there is no way they are sleeping together, and sets a blanket on the floor for him. Goku says Grandpa's crotch made a nice pillow, and Bulma cannot believe that is how he expected to sleep. As she brushes her teeth, Bulma asks Goku about his parents. All he knows is that he was abandoned in the mountains, and then Grandpa found him there. She realizes he must have been abandoned for having a tail. Goku asks if she was also abandoned for having a butt on her chest, to which she promptly denies on both accounts.
The next morning, Goku wakes up bright and early, and sees Bulma passed out on her bed. Her crotch reminds him of Grandpa's "comfy balls-pillow", and so he lies himself between her legs. Something feels wrong, though, so he first pat-pats her crotch, and then takes off her underwear to inspect. Goku screams in horror at what he finds, waking Bulma up. She asks what's wrong, to which he replies, "N-n-no Balls...!!" Bulma quickly runs to check on the Dragon Balls, and when she finds them to be safe, she scolds him.
Goku complains about Bulma being so slow, saying that she will turn into a turtle. Bulma replies that he just wakes up too early. She also wants him to start addressing her with more respect, since she is older after all. Goku says that is too hard to say. Bulma offers him some coffee, but he does not like that bitter soup. He instead decides to go out and get some exercise. He starts by smashing one large rock, and goes to grab another, which turns out to be a turtle shell. Goku thinks she really did turn into a turtle. Bulma comes out of the house and wonders who he is talking to, which makes Goku realize it is not her. She wonders what a sea turtle is doing way out here, as Umigame asks for some salt water. Umigame explains that he got lost while looking for matsutake mushrooms, and has been trying to find the ocean for about a year now. Bulma checks her map, and says that it is 120 kilometers to the south. Goku wants to see the ocean, so he says they will help take Umigame there. Bulma refuses to go along with them, until she remembers that she needs him and his Dragon Ball.

In the manga, Bulma turns on the TV manually, rather than using a remote. Also, the only channel shown is the one with the rockstar, and the soap opera and giant monster segments are anime-only. |
|
A bit of dialogue from Bulma explaining that she has to find the Dragon Balls before summer vacation is over is not present in the anime. It takes place after they discuss being abandoned for their "abnormalities". |
