Podcast Episode #0049
VegettoEX @ 10:00 pm EST -- Episode #0049 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we gave a pretty good rundown of daizenshuu numero seven, the encyclopedia to end all encyclopedias. Plus, we're giving away daizenshuu three on our upcoming one-year anniversary show! Well, one year of the podcast... the website's going on nine :P Definitely check it out.

22 October 2006

Podcast Episode #0048
VegettoEX @ 10:33 pm EDT -- Episode #0048 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we discussed Sparking! NEO for the Japanese PS2, and give our closing thoughts on the game. It's been about two weeks... how is the game going to hold up to the test of time? Our consensus is... not well. Listen in for more information. We have tons of other great stuff for you, including a short & dumb little fan parody that was concocted during the recording of the episode! Definitely check it out.

New DragonBall RPG on Nintendo DS in 2007!
VegettoEX @ 9:49 pm EDT -- DragonBall Z: Haruka Naru Gokû Densetsu, a new Japanese RPG, will be coming out on the Nintendo DS sometime in 2007! Discussions have already begun on the forum!

Sparking! NEO Sales & German DBGT Premiers
VegettoEX @ 6:56 am EDT -- The Magic Box is reporting that Sparking! NEO sold an additional 67,642 copies last week in Japan, being beaten out by the monstrous behemoths (redundant, but whatever) of Pokemon and Final Fantasy. Good to see that it's still doing well, though!

We got in an email from Christian Rodriguez Hernandez from Germany this week, letting us know what's going on over there with regards to DBGT.

We finally will get Dragon Ball GT here in Germany, and the airing will start on RTL 2 on the 30. October !!!

We waited over 2 years to get the continue from Dragon Ball Z so we fans are very exided about the final decision to air the show. It was a big secret this last weeks... (of course the hardcore Fans knew) but some days ago they made the offical anouncement, out of RTL 2 itself.

As a preview they put up today !!! The Opening from DBGT that were produces in Germany, for all Episodes ... -

We are looking forward ...

And Im sure you will have fun to listen to the German Version of DAN DAN ; )

So here's a link to RTL's page featuring the German opening to DragonBall GT... very cool stuff! While it uses a slightly MIDI-fied instrumental in the background, the lyrical performance is just fantastic. All you Germans out there, have fun with the series! And try not to break things. Or fall asleep.

It'll be tough, though :P.

15 October 2006

Podcast Episode #0047
VegettoEX @ 6:00 pm EDT -- Episode #0047 of the podcast is available for download! This week, we discussed Sparking! NEO for the Japanese PS2. Listen for our initial thoughts after a few days of playing... how does it stack up? We'll be back next week for our wrap-up, but there's definitely a few things we had to get off our chest right off the bat. Even if you're not a video game fan, there's enough this episode to keep you entertained! Definitely check it out.

14 October 2006

Budokai Tenkaichi 2... Wii Launch Title?
VegettoEX @ 7:57 pm EDT -- Amazon is listing Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (known in Japan... and to us... as Sparking! NEO) as coming out on November 21st, essentially as a launch title for the Wii in the US.

The first part of our Sparking! NEO review will be featured on the podcast this weekend! Look for it tomorrow!

13 October 2006

Sparking! NEO Sales, Etc.
VegettoEX @ 7:00 am EDT -- The Magic Box is reporting that Sparking! NEO has sold 263,897 copies, making it the number one selling game for last week in Japan (beating out Pokemon, no less). Let's see how long they can keep it up!

We'll be doing a two-part review on the podcast over the next two weeks (along with tons of other fun stuff), so look forward to that.

09 October 2006

Podcast Episode #0046
VegettoEX @ 6:00 pm EDT -- Episode #0046 of the podcast is available for download! This was a special episode; we brought back on Jeff Heller and Andrew Deluxe, and talked about fandom as a whole. What kind of things keep someone away from being a DragonBall fan, especially if they're already an anime fan? What if they're not an anime fan? Lots of great comparisons popped up during our round-table discussion, including that to American comics (specifically X-Men). Definitely check it out.

Sparking! NEO Playable Characters
VegettoEX @ 8:02 pm EDT -- There's been a bit of rumor discussion going around this here internet the last couple days concerning playable characters in Sparking! NEO. Well, one of the best things you can do is tear apart the files on the game disc and see what's on there. Something to keep in mind, however, is that there are two parts... graphical and audio.

As I've done with all DBZ games in recent history, here is a complete list of character names that the announcer speaks aloud in the "[insert name here] versus [insert name here]" fashion. These names can be found in both Japanese and English variants in the JP version's files:

  • Son Goku
  • Son Gohan
  • Piccolo
  • Kuririn
  • Yamcha
  • Tenshinhan
  • Chiaotzu
  • Raditz
  • Saibaiman
  • Nappa
  • Vegeta
  • Zarbon
  • Dodoria
  • Ginyu
  • Recoom
  • Butta
  • Jheece
  • Gurd
  • Freeza
  • Mecha Freeza
  • Trunks
  • Jûrokugô [#16]
  • Jûnanagô [#17]
  • Jûhachigô [#18]
  • Jûkyugô [#19]
  • Dr. Gero
  • Cell
  • Cell Jr.
  • Mister Satan
  • Great Saiyaman
  • Son Goten
  • Gotenks
  • Videl
  • Mao [Demon King] Dabura
  • Majin Buu
  • Vegetto
  • Super Vegetto
  • Gogeta
  • Super Gogeta
  • Ôzaru [Great Ape]
  • Broli
  • Bojack
  • Coola
  • Janenba
  • Bardock
  • Majin Vegeta
  • Super Jûnanagô [Super #17]
  • Bebi
  • Kame-Sen'nin
  • T'ao Paipai

  • Jûsangô [#13]
  • Tullece
  • Shin [Kaioshin]
  • Hildegarn
  • Tapion

There's a little more to this story, however. Each language has two sets of character announcements. In the secondary set of announcements for each language, we have one additional name that has not previously appeared: Ginga-Senshi / Galaxy Soldier.

Download an MP3 sample here.

... Interesting. Keep in mind that unless they say the character's name aloud, you can't play as them. They may be in the game in some type of story-mode capacity, but that's about it.

The podcast won't be out until tomorrow evening. We went up to MangaNEXT this weekend, recorded late last night, and it just isn't done yet. Apologies!

Happy Sparking! NEO Day!
VegettoEX @ 10:15 pm EDT -- Sparking! NEO sees its release in Japan on the PlayStation 2 today! Those of you who ordered it from Play-Asia probably had it shipped out to you on Tuesday (like I did), so look for it coming in this week! Much excitement.

Look for the American release in November from Atari (retitled Budokai Tenkaichi 2).

Oh, yeah... myself, Julian, and Meri will all be at MangaNEXT on Saturday. So say hello. And stuff. And junk. And stuff.

Kazuyuki Sogabe Passes Away
VegettoEX @ 8:43 pm EDT -- It has been brought to our attention that Kazuyuki Sogabe, a seiyuu known for his roles in DragonBall as Dr. Myu, Toma, and #13 (though possibly more well known as Kunzite in Sailormoon) passed away a couple weeks ago on September 17th. He will be missed.

Sparking! NEO Ships
VegettoEX @ 6:16 pm EDT -- Retailers such as Play-Asia have already begun to ship orders of Sparking! NEO, which officially drops in Japan on the 5th.

We will, of course, be dedicating an entire podcast episode to reviewing the game!
