Insane FUNimation DVD News... Re-Re-Release?!?
VegettoEX @ 10:42 pm EDT -- One of our newer forum members, theoriginalbilis, originally found some listings on DVD retailer sites back at the end of last month. What were they advertising? A complete DVD boxset of the first "Ultimate Uncut"... err... "season". Details weren't well known.

But now they are. Apparently, FUNimation will be releasing a 5 DVD set (yes, that's only five discs) on September 26th. What's the insane part? It's only $50. That's right, the same ridiculous amount of discs that aren't even done coming out yet are being re-re-released in September on fewer discs for a horrifyingly low price.

Here's the listing on RightStuf, and here's the aaaanime.com listing complete with an image of the box.

Well, do with that information as you will, and read what everyone's been saying about it.

Podcast Episode #0028 probably won't be released until Monday. We recorded tonight, but Meri and I are going out of town for the weekend, and I sure ain't editing :). If you're desperate for a little more Meri & Mike content this weekend, check out Episode #50 of Otaku Generation, where we chat with the cast about all things DragonBall, podcasting, AMVs, fan parodies, and whatever the Hell else we do.

Check out the current contest!

Podcast Episode #0027 + Contest + Big DVD News
VegettoEX @ 10:09 pm EDT -- There's a lot of stuff to break down in this update, and a lot of stuff for you to check out, so let's just get right into it!

  • Podcast Episode #0027
The next episode is available for download! Since I've been sick and needed something easy and fun to edit, we decided to bring back 20 Questions. That's right, back by popular demand, you can play along at home and see how easy it is to out-guess three aging fans :P.

  • Contest -- The Red Ribbon Army
Podcast fans got an early grab at a free CD from the band, but now all website visitors can get themselves into the mix. Head on over to our "Contests" page to see how you can win yourself not only a free CD, but a shirt, too!

  • Spain Gets Remastered DBZ
Special thanks to sangofe on our forum for bringing it to our attention, and then Conan for translating it all for us. Here's a little bit of information:

Two discs will be rocking in this first volume, similar to that of the Cabala of the Zodiac (which included 8 collectible editions). Overall, 36 releases, presented/displayed in sexy double cases (covered with a cardboard cover), and this will comprise the four basic sagas; each one's cover sporting a distinctive color. This'll divide DragonBall Z into the respective Saiyan, Freeza, Cell and Majin Buu arcs.

The image quality of these editions is taken from the original masters without censorship, as well as has been re-mastered to offer the best possible visual quality. Not to mention, the inclusion of the original language, the diverse additions, and Castilian subtitle track. We, the distributors, confirm that we're working on translating this directly from the Japanese version to accomplish the greatest possible quality, with respectable accuracy to the original dialogue.

Extras include some video game openings, OP/ED karaoke versions, image galleries, tons of audio tracks... this is definitely something to keep an eye on! The original news can be found over at zonadvd.com.

So there you have it. Tons of stuff. Enjoy!

VegettoEX @ 8:32 pm EDT -- The official Japanese website for Super DragonBall Z is currently hosting a Flash video of the PS2 port's opening video.

Podcast Episode #0026 + Jump Super Stars Sequel
VegettoEX @ 10:34 pm EDT -- Episode #0026 of the podcast is (finally) available for download! Apologies on the site being down for a good portion of the day, but hey... sometimes those things just happen. Enjoy the episode! Did you win the free copy of Mystical Adventure on DVD...?!? Listen to find out!

Also, special thanks to LaRésistance from our forum for the image linked here, which is essentially announcing another game in the Jump Super Stars lineup coming later this year! Bandai wants to know which characters from the Jump universe Japanese gamers would like to play as in the next game. Neato! Here's hoping a certain magical cat named with a certain last letter of the alphabet makes a dramatic appearance...!

Sparking! NEO
VegettoEX @ 10:41 pm EDT -- Ryo Mita and the gang can be seen demonstrating a good bit of Sparking! NEO in a new video hosted by Gamespot. We have verbal confirmation on a whole slew of new characters (including Tapion and Hildegarn), which will supposedly push the game up to around 130 playable characters! Yeesh!

There's also the Super DragonBall Z stuff, too, on Gamespot :D.

Last Minute Contest Calls!
VegettoEX @ 7:08 am EDT -- You all have a little over a day to get your contest entries in! Want to win a free copy of Mystical Adventure on DVD, courtesy of the fine folks here at this site? Of course you do!

Contest entries must be received by noon (EDT) tomorrow, May 12th. You'll have to listen to the podcast for full details! ^_~

Podcast Episode #0025
VegettoEX @ 9:35 pm EDT -- Episode #0025 of the podcast is (finally) available for download! Full of excitement, horror, suspense, intrigue, and other stuff that makes it sound neat! We talk about all the technology throughout the series, and all our regular segments... with twists! I don't quite know what twists those are, but yay!

Be sure to enter the contest, as well, for the free Mystical Adventure DVD. Entries are due Friday. What contest, you ask?! You're not listening to the podcast!

More Super DragonBall Z & Sparking! NEO Stuff
VegettoEX @ 7:11 am EDT -- While they're unfortunately still primarily (incorrectly) referring to it as Chou DragonBall Z, The Magic Box has a slew of new images up from the PS2 port of Super DragonBall Z.

While you're at it, Gamespot has a ton of new stuff up for Sparking! NEO, including an interview with Ryo Mita and more gameplay footage.

Also, hey... don't forget about our current contest! You can win a free copy of DragonBall movie 3, Mystical Adventure on DVD! Didn't know about a contest, you say? That's because you need to go check out the podcast!

Super DragonBall Z Preview @ IGN
VegettoEX @ 9:11 pm EDT -- I hate to keep giving them traffic, but unless I update with this, you all are going to flood my e-mail box :P. IGN has an article and images up concerning Super DragonBall Z's port for the PS2. I don't know why they seem to be inferring that Mecha-Freeza didn't previously exist, or something...

Anyway, there are some videos up for download, too. Mmm, Japanese voices this time around :D.

Super psyched for this game. JP PS2 on June 29th... *drool*

Sparking! NEO First Videos
VegettoEX @ 9:12 pm EDT -- IGN has updated with four videos showcasing some new in-game footage from Sparking! NEO. We clearly see Goku go through all SSJ forms in-game, as well as Slug transform into his "giant" form.

Unfortunately (and as opposed to the first videos we got of the original Sparking! way-back-when), these videos appear to be from the American version of the game, and feature both FUNimation's voices and recycled Budokai music.

Here's hoping the Japanese version gets even more slightly-remixed versions of BGM from the TV series and movies...!
