Say
wha... ?

The last official update to "Daizenshuu
EX" was 24 September 2001. That makes it...
*counts*.... 1 year, 4 months. Exactly.
What a great
break it's been!
Some of you
are asking, "Where have you been for a year?"
Some of you are asking, "What the Hell is this
site, and why should I care?" Both are quite
valid questions.
Let's start
from the beginning.
This site
began as "VegettoEX's Home Page"
in January of 1998. It rested on AOL's 2 MB of server
space for all HTML files, so it was really never down.
In 1999, the
site changed into "Daizenshuu EX"
and rested on good friend SREDBZ's
own server, "sreanime.net." For some time,
we had unlimited storage space, unlimited bandwidth...
basically, it was the good old days of the internet.
Then that big ol' company that ran all huge sites
back in those days (their name has been purged from
my memory) went out of business. We didn't even get
a notice. We found out through CNN. It was pretty
funny.
In 2000, we
moved over to "pokeball.net" thanks to the
offer of good friends over there. For some time, we
had no problems. Soon enough, however, there came
long bouts of downtime, changed passwords, etc. It
got to the point where (coincidentally) after September
11th, the servers just died, never to be restored,
and we were sore out of luck.
So I took
a break. A really long break. A muchly needed really
long break.
And now I'm
back. I brought some friends.
The site is
now residing on my university storage space. It's
hardly ever down, I've got a domain name (www.daizex.com)
pointing to it so you'll ALWAYS know where we are...
I think we're in good hands, again.
This layout
was actually started way back in 2001. I just never
got around to doing anything with it. Over the course
of the year, I've been fine-tuning it thanks to help
from old friend Tenks, and it's more or less kickin'
pretty good.
Long-time
fans of the site should still remember good ol' 707.
He's still a lovable teddy-bear. Say "Hi, I love
your magnets" to him over on "Tenkai."
Many of you
should recognize the name Julian
Grybowski. He's the new guy, here. Julian did
some work for "Planet Namek" shortly
before their impending demise, and has been a huge
player in the community ever since, keeping close
tabs on manga distributor Viz Communications, and
along with myself, being a regular posted on the newsgroup
alt.fan.dragonball.
So whatever.
You probably just want to know what's new on the site.
Good! There's plenty.
MUSIC
DATABASE:
The music
database has been vastly enlarged with both domestic,
Japanese, and other foreign CD releases. There's well
over 50 CDs catalogued, including the first fully
translated track listing for the brand spankin' new
"Complete Song Collection" CD set,
just released in Japan days ago. There's even two
more of these sets being released, soon!
MUSIC
DOWNLOADS:
Long-time
fans of the site will know that "Daizenshuu
EX" has always been about the music. From
the days of hosting 80 billion tracks from every CD
you didn't know even existed, to the days of not being
able to hold a single MP3 on a server, we've always
been there. You'll notice that the catalogue and downloads
are in two different sections. The downloads section
is starting out with a dozen of what we consider the
best and rarest of all the "DragonBall"
songs we could dig up. Acoustic, live, performed by
other bands... it's there. And it's only going to
grow.
MUSIC
VIDEOS:
Yes. You can
still download Scott Melzer's DBZ / "This
is Your Life" video : ). In addition to this,
I'm hosting not only my own music videos, but a wide
range of Scott's and Co.'s videos, as well. My newest
videos (including "Alone in the World,"
"DDR Project 2: Smoke" and "Nobody
Blink!") are all there.
LYRICS:
OK, so there's
been lyrics on this site in the past, and many others.
What's different this time? Julian's not only romanized
them, but he's fully translated them... line for line.
They're insane, they're awesome, and you can't wait
to sing along!
MANGA
REFERENCE GUIDE:
Julian's first
huge contribution to the site comes in the form of
this massive guide. Ever want to know what each monthly
release of Viz's comic corresponds to? Want to know
original Japanese release dates? Want to have fully
translated chapter titles? Think of anything else
related to the manga, and it's here. Updated as often
as possible!
NEWBIE
GUIDE:
Totally re-written,
with a ridiculous amount of information added, the
one and only crash-course into the world of "DragonBall."
Newbies and long-time fans, alike, will find something
they didn't know.
EDITORIALS:
We're ready
to take submissions, once more! In addition to that,
you'll find ALL... that's right ALL of the editorials
EVER hosted on "Daizenshuu EX" up
for viewing. And that's not all... coming soon will
be even more of a blast from the past... every editorial
ever hosted on "VegettoEX's Home Page"
!
FEATURE:
There's a
ton of big news in the world of "DragonBall,"
recently. From DVD boxsets (both in the US and Japan),
domestic announcements, new music collections, etc...
There's tons of stuff you NEED to be caught up on.
We've collected it all into 2003's premiere "Feature":
all the latest news you're dying to know.
..... *phew*.
That all is just a taste of what's to come. We're
all constantly going to be picking apart and updating
the site, adding new things, etc. etc. etc. We all
definitely look forward to what's to come, and the
process that generates it.
Big, huge,
exteme, incredible thanks to Julian, who made this
site and update what it is. I couldn't have done it
without him.
Visit us again
soon!
