We
all frequent message boards and online forums (such as
alt.fan.dragonball), and we all contribute as much as
we can. Unfortunately, we don't KNOW of all the places
people post questions, so it's impossible for us to reach
everyone. However, if you're reading this, you at least
know where WE are, so it's possible for you to ask us
directly.
What
we're going for here is sort of an "Answerman"
or "Ask John" (from Anime
News Network and Anime
Nation, respectively). We'd like you to e-mail in
whatever questions you may have, so long as it somehow
relates to the world of DragonBall; be it the manga,
the anime, merchandise.. whatever. We've been around for
a few years, now, and we know the ropes... we like to
think we know our stuff.
And
we want to help. E-mail
your questions to VegettoEX@aol.com with the subject "Ask
VegettoEX." We'll try to update this section
every weekend with at least one question straight from
the fans. Thanks!

Q. Do
you think that Funimation is going to keep "DAN
DAN Kokoro Hikarete 'ku" for episode 64 Of Dragon
Ball GT or do you think they'll keep the Grand Tour
(c)rap? -
John Nelson
A.
Well, the DVD came out on Tuesday, so go check for yourself.
OK, fine... I'll answer ^^;;. What else did anyone expect?
Of course there's no Japanese music there;
I mean, as much as the English score doesn't fit, it would
fit even less to suddenly have some J-Pop start
in with all the subdued guitar stuff. All of the scenes
in the "flashback" sequence have their appropriate
lines being spoken by the characters, rather than it being
a musical montage. It's really... well, it's bad. It doesn't
give any kind of sense of "closure" or "hope,"
but... whatever. You've got a Japanese track on the DVD;
watch it. That's what it's there for! - VegettoEX
Q. Hey, I personally
love the site that you have. It gives in depth info on
the original DBZ CDs, although I have no clue where to
get them! If you could just perhaps suggest some sites
that you may know, or some place to get them?? I
really was looking for "Ongakuskhû - Volume 2" (which
is the DBZ movie 8 OST) and "Dragonball Z - The Best Selections"
(The original, the copy with new songs.)
-

A.
People seem to think that because they want and love them
so much, these CDs are going to miraculously come back
into print or appear on store shelves. ^^; I'm sorry
folks... these CDs have been out of print for a long time,
usually, and aren't going to be showing up again any time
soon. You've going to have to keep watching
eBay and other auction sites if you really want these
CDs.... it's how I got them. - VegettoEX
Q. Do
you ever remember hearing about this huge fan-made video
game project, I think it was called Dragonball REMIX or
something. It was a C++ based game, I think, and there
were tons of people working on sprites, scripts and voices
and there was going to be like 3 episodes. I remember
it was close to the time Bid for Power was really getting
going before they got shut down, at least the DBZ part.
Anyway, any info on this project? It had looked really
promising and I was looking forward to it for a long time
and it never panned out I guess... -
Stephen Hohmann
A.
I don't have so much as a clue as to what you're talking
about, so I'm absolutely no help. I never really followed
any outside projects. - VegettoEX
Q. I've just
started looking at your site, and it seems that you know
your DBZ. I have a question, the issue with Trunks and
his sword, seems to be entirely irrelvant due to the movies
do not fall into the story line, or aren't suppose to.
How could Trunks possibly obtain this sword through the
different timelines? - ussjbroly
A.
The sword that Chibi Trunks gets is simply
a sword (which also appears in GT, for no apparent
reason)... not the sword.
It's absolutely impossible for it to be the same sword
that Future Trunks owns (well, not necessarily impossible,
but beyond all amounts of any likelihood). Movie
13 is just a way to show Chibi Trunks get
a sword... not how Future Trunks
gets the sword. - VegettoEX
Q.
Hey,
do you guys know if Linda Young did the voices for all
of Frieza's forms or just for his first and fourth form?
I know that Dameon Clarke did all of Cell's forms. - Wassup2
A.
Yes, she did. Freeza's first form (his English voice, obviously)
is presumably Ms. Young's "natural" speaking voice (as you can hear
when she plays Genkai in the YûYû Hakusho dub).
The other three formsh were all computer enhanced or naturally altered
in some way). - VegettoEX
Q.
I
would like to make a suggestion for a site addition. It
doesn't seem like you have a large amount of fan-based
material. How about a fanfic section? - Makankoposo
A.
Simple question, simple answer... I hate fanfics. Don't
really have a reason. Just don't like them. Read a few,
put me to sleep, bored the living daylights out of me.
I'm sure there are good ones, but I have absolutely no
interest in them. - VegettoEX
Q.
Any more news on the redubbing of the 1st and
2nd series? When Piccolo was talking in a battle between
Tien and Nappa, he sounded like the voice over from the
later series. Have there now been some episodes that have
been redubed and only being shown on TV at the moment?
- Julie Shipley
A.
Sounds like wherever you're watching it from has both
the FUNimation and Ocean Studios dubs. No, none of FUNimation's
redubs of seasons 1 and/or 2 have been completed and/or
released to television. - VegettoEX
Q.
Hey you know how a lot of sites mention the
Dragon Ball world's calendar being in the 700s AD, where
do these dates come from? I haven't seen any mention of
what the year is in either the manga or the anime. - Wassup2
A.
While the Dragon World's current era is referred to as the 700s A.D., it doesn't seem
to refer to our own "A.D." ("Anno Domini," which is Latin for
"In the Year of the Lord"). Rather, it seems to stand for its own special calendar. I personally
think the Dragon World's "A.D." should stand for "Anno Draconi," or
"In the Year of the Dragon," but this is just my own idea that isn't based on anything in
particular. Someone once suggested that perhaps the DB dating system had something to do with the Buddhist
or Chinese calendars, but I don't know enough about them to be able to tell with any degree of certainty. - Julian
Q.
Is Piccolo Junior meant to be the same being
as Daimao, the same soul, the same being... as in, the
Piccolo we see throughout the series is the same guy who
was trapped in the Denshi jar? OR... is it simply that
Piccolo Junior has the memories of his father, Daimao?
I tend to think he is a reincarnation, and truly is Piccolo
Daimao, because when he and Kami merge, it's referred
to as them becoming the original Namekian that came to
Earth. If Piccolo was not Daimao, then that fusion would
NOT be the original Namekian. ALSO, when Piccolo is training
Gohan, Gohan says something along the lines of 'My Dad
says you're different from before, that you changed when
you died and came back'. That would insinuate to me that
Piccolo Daimao and our well known Piccolo are indeed the
same person, just in different incarnations.
Do you know if they are the same being in different incarnations,
or are they truly two seperate beings? - Ben
Plante
A.
Piccolo Jr. refers to himself as the "Piccolo-Daimaô;"
he makes no distinction between himself and the previous
Piccolo. They are one and the same. There's the one scene
I remember, in particular, where Piccolo Jr. is speaking
to Goku, and there's that funky "spread-apart"
thing that the animation does, where it splits Piccolo-Daimaô
apart from Piccolo Jr. as they speak, with both voices
going at the same time... it's hard to describe, but it's
there.
So
yes... Piccolo Jr. was intended to be a perfect copy of
the original Piccolo-Daimaô, and is supposed to
be the Piccolo-Daimaô. - VegettoEX
Q.
This question is about Vegeta's "royal
blood". I admit that I read a lot of fanfiction and,
some of the better ones have some references to Vegeta
being in the "royal house of Vejiita-sei" and
other things such as his official title being: "Roku
no Vejiita-ouji" and Trunks being "Shichi no
Vejiita-ouji" Now I know that if its in a fanfiction,
it does NOT mean that it is true, but there have been
references in several different fanfics, stating that
Vegeta is the 6th and Trunks is the 7th. I have just gotten
the idea in my head that several references to this can't
be wrong! Is it ever clarified that they in fact do have
these titles and there is a "royal house"? Some
people I have talked to about this aren't sure either.
- Shotokan Boy
A.
I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, unfortunately.
Vegeta
always refers to himself as "Saiya-jin no Ôji"...
the Prince of the Saiya. There is no indication one way or the
other whether Vegeta is any "number" in a line
of ancestors; it's not that far-fetched, but at the same
time, we can't go assuming things, either. - VegettoEX
THIS
WEEK'S MESSAGE BOARD DISCUSSION:
Here
we are in the latest week of this new feature! I think
it's a really neat thing to add to the section, and I'm
glad to see people are getting involved. Please feel free
to contribute to the discussion, and even start up your
own!
Q. Vegeta has an INFERIORITY complex. On the surface,
it would seem that Vegeta has a SUPERIORITY complex. He
believes himself to be the best, he thinks he's the ultimate,
the final, the end-all be-all existence. Why wouldn't
one think he had a superiority complex? (snip... there's
much more to read!) -
Ben
Plante
A.
Read
over the discussion, here! Maybe we can bring Vegeta's all-consuming
pride down a couple of notches... :D
We're
trying to stay with our weekly schedule for the section...
so... e-mail
us your questions for next week's update! We love
getting all these questions, each week, so the more you
send us, the more we can (try to) answer for you!
