We all
frequent message boards and online forums (such as alt.fan.dragonball),
and we all contribute as much as we can. Unfortunately,
we don't KNOW of all the places people post questions, so
it's impossible for us to reach everyone. However, if you're
reading this, you at least know where WE are, so it's possible
for you to ask us directly.
What
we're going for here is sort of an "Answerman"
or "Ask John" (from Anime
News Network and Anime
Nation, respectively). We'd like you to e-mail in whatever
questions you may have, so long as it somehow relates to
the world of DragonBall; be it the manga,
the anime, merchandise... whatever. We've been around for
a few years, now, and we know the ropes... we like to think
we know our stuff.
And
we want to help. E-mail
your questions to VegettoEX@aol.com with the subject "Ask
VegettoEX." We'll try to update this section every
Saturday, with at least one question straight from the fans.
Thanks!

Q.
What is the mystery behind the so-called "OVA"
you mentioned, which is not really an OVA or whatever.
Now I'm confused! Playia dia, or something, its called..?

A.
I'm so glad you asked! Conveniently, over the last three
days, I've been slaving over a computer working on a new
section called "There
is no OVA!" Yes, that's right... I've been putting
off further work on the AWA Pro submission to work on a
new section for the website! How's THAT for dedication?!
In
a nutshell...there is no OVA. The "OVA," "Lost
Movie," or whatever else you want to call it...is
video game footage. That's right.
Parts
1 and 2 of "Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku"
came out for the Bandai PlayDia home console (in Japan)
in September and December of 1994, respectively. The games
(and all other PlayDia games) were basically "point-and-click"
style FMV games (think early Sega CD).
Want
to read more? Please do! We've got the full history,
synopsis, and media from it all!
Q.
Alright, so I know we're all a little wary about Fox's
eventual live action movie release, but where on Earth
is there ever going to be some real, concrete, and reliable
information on it? It sounds like there now are plans
for 4 movies? But it seems even FUNimation doesn't really
have much to say about it. What the hell is going on,
then? Thanks, Mike. - Eric
Faris
A.
There's been VERY little information released about the
movie(s), so far. From
this article, we learned that they're looking to make
this a franchise, with MULTIPLE movies. This
article let us know that they're looking to George Lucas'
ILM for the special effects, and debating on a title. This
recent IMDB.com entry lists 2004 as a planned release
date, while THIS
entry (possibly for a sequel?) lists Roland Emmerich
as the director, with writing credits to Tedi Sarafian and
Akira Toriyama, himself.
So
yeah. We really don't know ANYTHING about these movies,
other than that they've been officially "announced"
and are in the "works." Hopefully... nothing comes
of it! :D
That's
it for this week! Be sure to check out that brand-spankin'
new "There is no OVA!"
section, while you're here. E-mail
us your questions for next week's update! It's not like
I've got better things to do than answer all your questions
:P. Actually, I do... but I really have fun with it, so
load me up with these impossible questions so I've got material
for you all next week. Ja~
